This airless pack features an overcap and outer bottle made of recycled PCR cardboard. These are fitted around a tube-like PE pouch. Also from Yonwoo, the Shut-Off Nozzle prevents air re-entry and bulk exit through the actuator of an airless container. This ensures optimal formulation protection and prevents oxidation of the bulk trapped in the nozzle.

Visitors can have a sneak preview of the Apollo Oil pump, engineered for no leaks and no drips. This makes the pump ideal for face serums, baby oils, hair serums, massage oils and sun protection products.

In addition to the above exciting products, we will show Brivaplast’s Artist Line range at Packaging Innovations (Stand C20, NEC, Birmingham, UK, 29 February-1 March). These new make-up brushes combine the performance of professional brushes with Brivaplast’s special bi-injected wiper.

Branded packs on display will include the Payot dropper, three Boots products developed for the Champneys Spa range and the new KORA range by supermodel Miranda Kerr.
http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/come-and-meet-us-at-pcd-and-easy-fairs-birmingham/29/01/2012 18:30:22http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/come-and-meet-us-at-pcd-and-easy-fairs-birmingham/Meet the Business Unit Director: Jason Smith, Quadpack Australia
Continuing our series of interviews, Jason Smith illustrates the cosmetics packaging markets in Australia and New Zealand.

Quadpack: Please describe the industry sector in your territory.
Jason Smith: The Australian and New Zealand beauty markets are developing at a phenomenal rate. In the five years that Quadpack Australia has been in existence, we have noticed client expectations becoming increasingly sophisticated and the industry rising to the challenge. There is a strong focus on natural and organic products, with a growing emphasis on cutting-edge cosmeceutical formulations and packaging.

Q: What is your background, both in the industry and at Quadpack?
Jason Smith: I have always had a passion for doing whatever it takes to exceed clients’ expectations. My background is in customer services in manufacturing in Australia. I moved to the UK, where I was client service manager at Quadpack UK for three years. This was an exciting period for me, being involved in the initial growth of Quadpack and learning more about the beauty industry. In late 2006, it was decided to set up a dedicated office to meet the demands of the Australian and New Zealand markets. In consultation with current Quadpack Australia chairman Jeremy Garrard and group CEO Tim Eaves, I returned to Melbourne to develop the business in the region. In the past five years, we have grown Quadpack Australia from humble beginnings to the team we have today.

Q: What is it like to work at Quadpack Australia?
Jason Smith: Fascinating and exciting. The beauty industry is moving so quickly, I still learn something new every day! With its global network of offices, Quadpack truly is an international concern but, within that, our team is relatively small and close-knit. We work very well together and always feel proud to see our products on shelves throughout the world.

Q: Where does Quadpack fit in the market in your area?
Jason Smith: Quadpack has built a solid reputation in skincare in Australia, particularly with the innovative, beautifully-designed and high-performance Yonwoo airless products. Most of our business here is in the masstige to premium end of the market.

Q: What are your plans for Quadpack Australia in 2012?
Jason Smith: We will be expanding our team to consolidate our presence and give our clients the best possible packaging experience and help their products succeed. We have already started with the addition of Domenic Maisano in sales, responsible for Sydney and Brisbane. We will also work to strengthen relationships with our manufacturing partners. Last year, we signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Apollo and we are talking to Brivaplast to offer its professional make-up packs in this region. In operational terms, we are rolling out SAP enterprise software to streamline our processes for improved productivity and a faster, more efficient service to our clients.

Q: What’s next in cosmetic packaging?
Jason Smith: Is there a harder question! While innovation is always sought after by our clients, retro packaging often reappears. What’s sure is that we always track the market to ensure our clients have access to tomorrow’s hot trends.
http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/meet-the-business-unit-director--jason-smith--quadpack-australia/29/01/2012 17:56:41http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/meet-the-business-unit-director--jason-smith--quadpack-australia/Quadpack presents Yonwoo innovations at L'Oréal's second innovation forum, Cherry Pack 2
Quadpack proudly presented Yonwoo’s latest advances in cosmetics packaging at Cherry Pack 2, L’Oréal’s annual innovation forum, at its headquarters in St Ouen, France, on 24 and 25 November. Emma Trump, head of the design team, highlights the beautiful minimalism of ‘Japonisme’ and the bold retro colours of ‘Pop’ as two looks to hit the High Street over spring and summer 2012.

Cosmetics brands looking for an elegant gift with purchase should look to the delicate oriental prints of Japonisme. The colour palette is a contemporary mix of creams and mushroom with chalky pastels. Soft PU and PVC, simple cottons, canvas and silk-effect materials are fabrics that work well with this style.

Pop is a look that will complement hip young brands. Inspired by iconic influences like Mary Quant and Vidal Sassoon, this trend captures the aesthetics of the 1960s revamped for today’s generation. Bold blocks of colour are balanced by black-and-white lines. Fabrics that go with Pop include lacquered and high-gloss PU and PVC.

Emma says: “Now is the time to start developing concepts for promotional gift items for next spring and summer. These are two very different, very effective looks that will look great on cosmetic bags, vanity bags, tote bags, laptop cases, clutch bags and make-up brush bags.”

Spirit is a Quadpack company.
http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/tune-into-fashion-trends-for-spring-summer-2012/17/11/2011 11:33:10http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/tune-into-fashion-trends-for-spring-summer-2012/Meet the business unit director: Jenni Paddick, Spirit Ltd
Jenni Paddick, business unit leader of Spirit Ltd, explains the synergy between Spirit and its mother company, Quadpack.

Quadpack: What is Spirit Ltd?
Jenni Paddick: Spirit provides design and inspiration to support the marketing activities of beauty brand owners. We design bags, beauty accessories and gifts with purchase (GWP) – promotional items that offer a creative edge to help promote our customers’ brands. Part of our business is also designing items for retail.

Q: What is Spirit’s relationship to Quadpack?
JP: Spirit is a Quadpack company. Quadpack acquired the majority share in January, having seen the benefits of joining forces as a stakeholder the year before. There is a real synergy between our activities. We both target the same customer base. We both help build beauty brands. We both enjoy an established reputation in our markets. Our cultures are similar, too. I sense the same passion and pride in their work whenever I deal with my colleagues at Quadpack.

Q: Who can benefit from Spirit’s products?
JP: Most companies who approach us are cosmetic companies, looking for new gift ideas to promote new brands or new collections. For example, we have done work for Elemis, The Sanctuary, Amway and Elle McPherson. We also design cosmetics bags for retailers like the Body Shop and we developed a complete new range of bags for Dannii Minogue’s Project D.

Q: How do you track trends?
JP: We have a talented design team that keeps track of the latest fashion trends. They visit manufacturers around the world to discover the latest fabrics, colours, patterns and innovations. They use newer methods like social networking. They follow events like London Fashion Week. They take catwalk fashion and simplify and adapt it to appeal to the mass market. Some clients have as much as a fixed 18-month cycle from concept to delivery, it’s a challenge to ensure the right trend hits the High Street at the right time, but we always get it right!

Q: So what’s hot at the moment?
Organic and eco-friendly products are popular. Our plant-based Konjac sponge has been very successful. With reduced marketing budgets, affordability is a key factor. That’s why we’re developing cost-effective gifts that still offer a premium feel.

Q: Is GWP a growing market?
JP: The beauty business continues to expand and we are seeing more brands being launched. That makes it harder for our customers to stand out in the crowd. And that’s where gift with purchase will help to sell. GWPs add value to brands, they help to differentiate them. Our job is to keep finding original ways to appeal to an increasingly sophisticated consumer!

Q: Tell us about your background.
JP: I’d worked for eight years in the FMCG sector before I was approached by Spirit. It operated in a more focused, niche industry, but the corporate culture resonated with me. It also appealed to my creative side as I have a background in design. I joined in December 2009. When Quadpack became majority shareholder, I was promoted to help align the company with Quadpack’s activities.

Q: Describe your team and how you work with the Quadpack Group.
JP: We have a small, dedicated team, most of us very long term. We are all passionate about what we do. It’s often said that it doesn’t feel like a job at all. Since the acquisition, everybody is positive about the future and can see the potential of penetrating customers in each other’s markets. Quadpack people are being trained in Spirit products to sell into new territories and we promote Quadpack to our existing customers. It works both ways.
http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/meet-the-business-unit-director--jenni-paddick--spirit-ltd/17/11/2011 11:26:05http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/meet-the-business-unit-director--jenni-paddick--spirit-ltd/Extended presence at Cosmoprof Asia, with a party to boot!
Extended presence at Cosmoprof Asia, with a party to boot!

All our key partners will be exhibiting at Cosmoprof Asia 2011 (9-11 November, Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre), which promises to be even bigger and better this year. We research the market to get to know the manufacturers and products available. Then we use this knowledge to source specific solutions for Quadpack clients worldwide. Our QA unit ensures our high quality standards are adhered to during development and our logistics support team ensures all shipments arrive on time.

Q: How do you select your manufacturing partners?
DZ: A manufacturer has to fulfil strict criteria before qualifying as a Quadpack manufacturing partner. We look for specialisation in a particular kind of pack. We investigate production capability, operating procedures and organisational set-up. When we are satisfied, they are required to submit to an independent audit by ProQC, our chosen certified auditor. In this way we have set up successful, often exclusive partnerships with leading manufacturers.

Q: What competition do you face in your local territory?
DZ: There are lots of other sourcing operations and trading offices in China. Quadpack stands out by specialising in skincare and by having a strong, established client base in Europe. Our tight focus, coupled with a good reputation and expert technical knowledge, means we operate in a different league to the average Chinese trading office.

Q: What is the most important factor in dealing with two very different cultures?
DZ: Good communication. We are like a translator. We translate detailed sales enquiries for our manufacturing partners and we translate technical quotations for the Quadpack sales offices. During project development, we ensure that everyone in the supply chain speaks the same language.

Q: What is it like to work at Quadpack China?
DZ: Interesting, challenging, satisfying. We are not a big team, but we are very efficient and we understand each other. Every day presents a new enquiry, a new challenge, and we are able to respond quickly and precisely. We are also a young team and we sometimes meet to go and see a movie; that helps us relax and grow closer.

Q: Do you have any plans for the future of Quadpack China?
DZ: We are setting ourselves up to sell into China. Until recently, 90% of packaging was manufactured for export. This is changing. Since 2009, the domestic market has seen phenomenal growth, with a significant increase in local cosmetics brands. One new cosmetics brand alone has achieved $6 billion in sales in just two years. We are here, we have the infrastructure, the procedures, the expertise. Now we are preparing to secure our share of the local market.

Q: In your opinion, what’s next in cosmetics packaging?
DZ: In one phrase: post-consumer recycling. Packs made of eco-friendly materials are increasingly popular. That means recyclable plastics like PP and PET, but also natural materials like bamboo, with is a big resource here and grows fast. Hands-free actuation is also on the rise, for hygienic application of eye creams and colour cosmetics.
http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/meet-the-business-unit-director--david-zhou--quadpack-china/10/08/2011 15:34:48http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/meet-the-business-unit-director--david-zhou--quadpack-china/International people moves at Quadpack Group
Quadpack human resources have seen some heightened activity of late, as several key staff changed location or function in response to changing needs, recognition of talent or reallocation of resources.

Quadpack UK project manager Mabel Kwok, responsible for large accounts such as Nude, has moved to Quadpack Australia to help the fast-growing office manage a significant increase in business. In fact, I have been working in the market since 1997, 10 years before we officially established Quadpack Germany. It has the biggest cosmetics market in Europe, its retail value totalling some €12.8 billion in 2010. Big players like Henkel, Schwartzkopf, Beiersdorf and Unilever are all based here, as are several important packaging manufacturers. Austria and Switzerland have a similar profile, while Benelux is mainly home to contract fillers.

Q: How has the economic crisis affected your markets?
LS: When the crisis hit, the prestige market was worst affected, but the very high end remained largely the same, particularly luxury skin care. What we saw was a widening of the gap between prestige and masstige. However, the prestige market has been picking up again and we have been seeing a lot more activity for a while now.

Q: What kind of solutions are your customers asking for?
LS: Our customers are very keen on innovation. They also want a wide choice in decoration options. A big trend in our region is increasing demand for eco-friendly packaging solutions. Brand owners are being pressured not only by consumers, but also by regulators, to offer greener products, using recyclable materials, with a lower packaging volume-to-content ratio. German companies pay a premium for recycling, depending on materials used: the more polluting the pack, the higher the tax. So, in fact, environmentally-friendly packaging works out to be the more economical option.

Q: What plans do you have to take Quadpack Germany forward?
LS: Quadpack Germany is actively recruiting customer-facing staff to help increase our market share. We are still considered by many to be only an airless provider and that is something else we need to address. We offer competitive solutions in many other areas, such as glass and atmospheric pumps. Also, Armand Rasch joined us last November to push into Benelux. Benelux is interesting as it has a very high concentration of contract fillers. These companies are important decision influencers for big brands and a key focus of our international sales strategy. With regulators becoming stricter, we predict that more brand owners will turn to contract fillers to ensure compliance. Quadpack is targeting this segment ahead of time. We already have contract fillers among our top clients in Spain, Israel and the UK.

Q: What is it like to work at Quadpack Germany?
LS: Very nice. The German team is young and dynamic, with lots of energy. We have a great office in a beautiful area in Cologne. There is constant contact with international colleagues within the Quadpack Group, with regular meetings. Everyone gets on very well.

Q: You are a director, a shareholder and mother of two small children. How do you manage it all?
LS: I think juggling the different roles helps you to become more efficient in managing resources. You become more disciplined in structuring your time. I work around the children's school timetable and take work home when I need to. It was difficult at first but I am starting to delegate more, which actually empowers the team to operate more autonomously. Everyone is happier as a result!
http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/meet-the-business-unit-director--laura-sala--quadpack-germany/16/06/2011 11:00:27http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/meet-the-business-unit-director--laura-sala--quadpack-germany/Quadpack targets the New Zealand cosmetics packaging market
"Mature, dedicated, with a healthy growth curve" were the main conclusions of Quadpack’s recent market study of the New Zealand beauty industry. The study precedes Quadpack targeted campaign to promote its solutions in the region, starting with the NZBeauty EXPO in Auckland on 2-3 July.

"Our research shows there is a large, established base of cosmetics companies with busy R&D operations," says Australian business unit director Jason Smith. "What we also found from speaking with these companies is that they lack access to innovative packaging solutions. We hope to be able to offer them exactly that, as we kick off our campaign at NZBeauty."

Quadpack will show a wide range of packaging innovations for skincare, haircare and colour cosmetics on its stand no. 176 including Yonwoo’s latest airless dispenser Finger Touch, Apollo’s cutting-edge foamers and our easy-fill double tubes for dual treatments. Quadpack’s own glass range of jars and nail polish bottles will also be on show.

Long-term plans include establishing a local base in the territory. "We are able to offer valuable guidance in terms of new dispensing solutions, decoration options, advanced formula protection and more. Our message to the region is that there is more to packaging than the standard assortment currently on offer. Our packaging solutions are custom-designed to help protect, preserve and promote their brand," concludes Jason.
http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/quadpack-targets-the-new-zealand-cosmetics-packaging-market/16/06/2011 11:00:15http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/quadpack-targets-the-new-zealand-cosmetics-packaging-market/Come and see us at Make-Up in Paris!
Visitors to the Quadpack stand EST 22 at Make-Up in Paris (23-24 June 2011) will be able to learn about the latest innovations in airless and foam pump technologies. We start with Mike Banister, business unit director of Quadpack UK, responsible for the UK, Scandinavia and Poland.

Question: Please describe your markets.
Mike Banister: Well, the UK is one of the big four European markets in terms of cosmetics packaging purchasing, with Poland and Scandinavia not far behind. Each of our markets has a balance of successful local brand owners, fillers and also multinational companies with local operations. Poland has a busy packaging manufacturing industry of its own, more so than in UK or Scandinavia. Our value propositions differ slightly for different clients. What stays the same is our policy of building good relationships, sourcing the best solutions and ensuring we have the infrastructure in place to support our clients’ needs.

Q: How has the economic crisis affected your markets?
MB: While there has been some nervousness, Quadpack UK has seen a significant increase in activities. When the crisis was at its worst, our clients went through a period of destocking while waiting to see what their clients were buying. There has been some consolidation, too. Some weaker companies did not survive, but those that rode out the storm came out the other side stronger.

Q: Have consumer buying habits changed as a result?
MB: Yes, there has been a switch from prestige to masstige products. Consumers are buying at a lower price point. They still appreciate a premium feel, so the current trend is for mass market products packaged as masstige. This is what prompted Quadpack’s push into mass market/masstige packaging at the start of last year, a move that has proved very successful so far.

Q: Have cosmetics companies’ demands changed as a result?
MB: Again, yes. In a crowded marketplace, brand owners are trying to differentiate themselves. They understand that packaging, particularly packaging innovation, is a good way of making products stand out. Fresh new products like our double-ended tube or well-pump are what will drive the market next. ACO in Scandinavia has already successfully deployed the well-pump for its Cliniderm range, for example, while Dermica in Poland has effectively used the Yonwoo Airless syringe – another prime example of masstige with a premium feel.

Q: What is it like to work at Quadpack UK?
MB: Great. It is an exciting place to work, particularly with our recent growth. It is always good to see hard work getting results. This is boosted by the fact that consumer confidence is up, and that is trickling back to us. Our work here is satisfyingly challenging and no two days are the same. Best of all, we are a close-knit team. There is a great amount of professional respect and support.

Q: How did you arrive at your current position?
MB: I joined Quadpack as operations manager in 2004, when we were just four people working in a small office above a shop. As the business grew, so did the team and we moved here to larger premises. When this position became available in mid 2009, I was offered the job, which was very exciting and daunting at first. Two years on, we have steered the company into calmer waters post-crisis, our client base is expanding and the business is growing. I feel very confident about the future.

Q: Speaking of the future, what is next for Quadpack UK?
MB: We will be focusing on introducing more packaging innovations to our clients to help them differentiate their products. We will also continue to develop close relationships with manufacturers, helping them steer their R&D to meet the emerging trends we detect in the marketplace. Furthermore, the wider Quadpack Group supplies a broad product portfolio that we that we take advantage of and introduce to clients in our territories. For example, our Spanish office has had great success with glass, using good manufacturing partners and developing strong in-house resources. In terms of market sectors, we have been very successful in skin care, but there is much growth potential in hair care and make-up. We will be focusing on these sectors next, using our existing product portfolio. The team is going to be busy!
http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/meet-the-business-unit-director--mike-banister--quadpack-uk/18/04/2011 15:36:56http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/meet-the-business-unit-director--mike-banister--quadpack-uk/Quadpack Spain ramps up its management team
Quadpack Spain is pleased to introduce Marcela Buitrago as its new business unit director. Unique, interactive displays will tempt you to pick up, touch, feel and admire our latest beauty packaging innovations. We wanted to break the mould and let our guests get physical with our products," explains Quadpack marketing consultant Muriel Lesbros. "We're proud of what we do and our designs will be there for all the world to see, touch and feel – not jealously guarded in a store room. Visitors will be able to browse our product range as if they were in a luxury store."

Among the innovations on display will be Finger Touch, Yonwoo's latest airless container for the precise application of sensitive formulas. Finger Touch features a flexible, finger-shaped applicator and ergonomic actuator, making it easy to apply the product to the delicate eye area.

Cosmoprof will also be the launch pad for our new glass nail polish bottles. One such advance is the new Association-branded logo, to be awarded to those firms that develop true airless packaging solutions that meet the Association's certification criteria.

"Today's true airless systems are a win-win proposition, for brand owners and consumers," said the APA's Silberstein. "Protection of complex formulas is critical, whether the brand is in the mass, masstige or prestige sector. The true airless system offers demonstrable consumer benefits, which is why this packaging solution is fast becoming more popular in the beauty and cosmetics, pharma and even food markets.

"No wonder we at the APA believe that consumers – as well as brand owners -- should know about, ask for, and know how to recognise, through our new logo, products packaged in a way that protects over the life of the product," Silberstein said.

According to the APA, the latest, true, airless systems offer superior ergonomics, are quick to prime and prevent the oxidizing of today's delicate formulas, which utilize powerful active ingredients. "Today's morning cream is much more than a regular moisturizer," Silberstein said. "Brand owners are selecting organics and preservative-free formulations. Retail shelves are stocked with new hybrid, multi-benefit formulas that include SPF, anti-aging ingredients and even some liquid foundations.

"Our message, therefore, is classic marketing 'push-pull': brand owners need to be aware of, and select, dispensing systems that can handle the demands of this type of formulation. And consumers need to be aware of products delivered with such packaging. For our industry," she said, "the true airless system is, indeed, a beautiful and useful product."
http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/airless-packaging-association-to-promote-airless-systems-at-cosmoprof-bologna/14/03/2011 16:45:03http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/airless-packaging-association-to-promote-airless-systems-at-cosmoprof-bologna/Hong Kong business unit to coordinate Asian sourcing operations
Quadpack has opened an office in Hong Kong to consolidate its operations in Asia. We were selected to take part in L’Oréal’s inaugural Innovation Forum, while newly-appointed Javier Navia was placed in charge of research and development, complemented by a newly-formed marketing team to enable us to bring innovative products to market more quickly.

In terms of operations, we renewed our ISO certification, completed the roll-out of SAP across all offices and linked everyone with state-of-the-art video conferencing equipment.

We consolidated our presence in Italy, the home of colour cosmetics, through the creation of Quadpack Italy s.r.l. and continue to forge relationships with many private-label manufacturers. Despite the French strikes, thousands of visitors attended and the event was an unequivocal success.

“Business was booming at Luxe Pack this year,” said Quadpack CEO Tim Eaves. “The show is always a great opportunity to meet our customers and we also hook up with our beauty partners to exchange innovation ideas. The heated mascara, designed to produce voluminous curled eye lashes, caused quite a stir. The double-ended mascara features an eyelash curler on one end which creates a drastic parabolic curl with only two or three applications. The heat-resistant mascara on the other end then holds the eyelashes in place and keeps them curled all day.

Yonwoo’s make-up applications also enjoyed a lot of interest, featuring a new compact case, airless systems with mirrors and more. The decision was taken in January to concentrate less on the prestige market to include the masstige and mass market segments of the industry, while simultaneously courting global multinational brands with innovative new product.

This policy has accounted for a sharp rise in the group’s growth rate. Half-year results just released show a 62.5% increase like-for-like over the same period in 2009.

Tim Eaves also attributes this achievement to the Quadpack 80-strong team which has benefited from recent high-profile additions; “I am seeing great teamwork between the international offices, as well as a pro-active attitude to finding the right solution for our clients.”

In addition, he sees large brands coming to Quadpack having tried unsuccessfully to deal directly with Asian suppliers. “Many businesses without experience in sourcing solutions in these territories find that buying “cheap” can often work out expensive. As an international operation with sourcing offices in Europe and Asia, these companies are realising the added value that Quadpack can bring. Our expertise in this area eventually draws them back to us.”

Looking ahead, Tim points out that the economic crisis is not over yet. “There are still concerns over the exchange rate and we’re not out of the woods yet. Still, we are striving to maintain our competitive edge by introducing more innovative products and targeting diverse market areas. Our masstige campaign is bringing in a lot of business and now we have our sights on make-up and colour cosmetics. Here at Quadpack, the future is looking good.”
http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/mid-year-ceo-statement--market-shift-pays-off/31/08/2010 10:57:40http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/mid-year-ceo-statement--market-shift-pays-off/Vive la France! Quadpack returns to Paris for Cosmeeting
Vive la France! Quadpack returns to Paris for Cosmeeting

France is at the cutting edge of cosmetics innovation, with a host of key industry events taking place there this year. Quadpack will be at the next big gathering, Cosmeeting, at the Porte de Versailles in Paris from 13-15 September.

“After taking part in the launch edition of Make-Up in Paris in June and L’Oréal’s groundbreaking Innovation Forum, we find ourselves very active in this region. France is currently the beating heart of cosmetics,” says Philippe Lenglart, Director and Co-Founder of Quadpack.

“Events such as Cosmeeting provide us with a great opportunity to strengthen our relationships with the multinational brands that have their global base here. It especially enables us to meet personally with R&D and marketing personnel who are generally office-bound. Getting direct feedback from these key members in the cosmetics supply chain is invaluable in developing our product range and planning forward strategy.”

With a heavy focus on sustainable innovation, Cosmeeting 2010 will gather 200 exhibitors presenting new concepts, products and techniques. We will be present showcasing our new pan stick range, as well as a brand new Yonwoo line of airless pens with unique side-actuation.

http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/vive-la-france--quadpack-returns-to-paris-for-cosmeeting/31/08/2010 10:57:15http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/vive-la-france--quadpack-returns-to-paris-for-cosmeeting/Quadpack expands Chinese sourcing operation
Quadpack expands Chinese sourcing operation

Quadpack China is moving to larger premises following a three-fold growth since its inception in 2005. Based in Shanghai’s vibrant business centre, the new building offers much-needed space to house Quadpack’s expanding operations in this region.

“Our team now includes three merchandisers, two trained engineers and dedicated staff in administration and logistics,” says David Zhou, Manager of Quadpack China.

“We have significant purchasing volume here and we enjoy a good reputation among local suppliers. The market is increasingly competitive offering excellent price/performance. We are seeing a considerable improvement in the quality of Chinese manufacture, facilities and customer service, so it is only natural that our sourcing operation is growing in this territory.”

The new office, based in the prestigious City Gateway building in Rm. 605, NO.398 CaoXi (N) Road in Shanghai will provide additional space for growth as well as housing a package testing laboratory, sample store and conference facilities.

With its local base in Shanghai, Quadpack has bridged the cultural gap between European demand and Asian supply. Our sourcing specialists have the experience to seek out and deal with high-quality producers, to deliver standard and bespoke cosmetics packaging solutions for our customers worldwide, on time, on budget and on spec.

http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/quadpack-expands-chinese-sourcing-operation/31/08/2010 10:56:21http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/quadpack-expands-chinese-sourcing-operation/New Italian office marks Quadpack's push into colour cosmetics

New Italian office marks Quadpack’s push into colour cosmetics

Quadpack has consolidated its presence in Italy with the establishment of Quadpack Italy srl and the appointment of an experienced Operations Manager. This year, we will be launching a range of airless Yonwoo products, including the Show bottle, Econo pack and Luxefoil tubes. We will also show for the first time an innovative thermo-therapy corrector stick from Medicon. Bespoke and standard packs from Klorane and Atache Scientific Cosmetic will also be on display.

The Yonwoo Luxefoil tube features three layers; a printable PP outer layer, a PCTA central layer and an aluminium inner layer which acts as a barrier to light, gas and steam, protecting formulas sensitive to light and oxidation. Luxefoil tubes can be supplied with an airless pump or with a range of standard caps. Decoration options include metallic-effect colouring, screenprinting and offset printing.

We will be exhibiting two diverse Yonwoo airless packs: the high-end Show bottle and the mass-market Econo pack. More details on these later in this newsletter.

Medicon’s CLEANE thermo corrector will have its first public showing on the Quadpack stand. This battery-operated standard pack uses advanced blue light technology to treat skin imperfections. Housed in a cylindrical pack with an on-off switch, the travel-sized device also refines and regulates skin.

Pierre Fabre’s new Klorane well-pump, featured in our last newsletter, will be displayed on our stand. Featuring a tamper-evident cap, it allows one-handed use of the product, while preventing contamination and eliminating waste. Atache’s airless C VITAL bottles, marrying high-tech functionality with an attractive presentation, will also be shown. Quadpack France is moving into new offices following its substantial growth over the past year. Measuring 310m2, the new building has ready access to warehousing facilities increasingly demanded by Quadpack customers.

“The French operation has doubled its turnover and we expect further growth during 2010. The new building has plenty of room for new people to come on board,” says Philippe Lenglart, Director and Co-Founder of Quadpack.

Our new French headquarters are located in the heart of ‘Cosmetic Valley’, a leading worldwide centre for resources in perfumes and cosmetics situated south-west of Paris. The building houses some impressive facilities, including a conference room fitted with the latest AV equipment and a fully-equipped package test laboratory.

The dedicated lab is staffed by trained technicians who carry out extensive package test procedures to ensure compliance with client requirements.

Warehousing facilities are available for the first time. Philippe explains: “Our larger customers often request local storage facilities that allow us to supply to agreed schedules on a just in time basis. They will find our new offices a convenient distribution point.”

Quadpack France also plans to work closely with the nearby packaging school, lending its expertise to help coach future industry professionals.

You can contact Quadpack France on tel. +33 (0)2 37 30 73 41, fax +33 (0)2 37 30 83 33 or email info@fr.quadpack.net.
http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/quadpack-france-expands-its-operation/30/03/2010 06:59:49http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/quadpack-france-expands-its-operation/New airless pack label
New airless pack label to act as quality guarantee

The Airless Pack Association (APA) is laying the foundations for the creation of a genuine airless label. Founded in 2008, the APA gathers five of the main global producers of airless dispensers: Lablabo, Lumson, Megaplast, Rexam,Quadpack / Yonwoo.

APA treasurer and Quadpack Group Marketing Director Gérard Perrin says: “With a health-conscious consumer base demanding natural products, the attraction of airless delivery systems is clear. They protect sensitive formulas by keeping air and contaminants out, they enable less use of preservatives and their non-aggressive actuation is free of harmful gases. Their ability to dispense all of the product without waste also appeals to a crisis-stricken market.”

Reports estimate the airless market in Europe alone to double in the next five years. With many new suppliers bound to come on board, the range of airless dispensers is set to multiply.

“The forecasted rise in the number of airless packs makes the development of a quality label all the more salient,” says Perrin. “The APA will create a label that consumers can rely on as a guarantee that an airless design complies with APA specifications.”

The APA aims to develop the global market for airless products, highlighting the advantages of airless dispensers for the packaging and preservation of cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food products. His mission is to consolidate the marketing efforts of Quadpack sales teams in five countries and help get the company into shape for future growth.

Gérard’s impressive resume includes 28 years at Calmar (MeadWestvaco), where he was Vice President for Global Innovation and Marketing. He is also Treasurer of the Airless Association which counts Quadpack as a member.

“It is a great time to be joining Quadpack,” says Gérard. “While international, it is still a human-sized organisation with great people resources. And as representative of Yonwoo, a company with the best record in quality and innovation in airless systems, Quadpack is active in a field with enormous growth potential. Hygiene and health concerns are leading cosmetics companies to turn to solutions which reduce the use of preservatives and contaminants. Airless systems are the simplest and fastest way to achieve that.”

Quadpack CEO Tim Eaves says: “I am delighted that we have been able to attract such a heavyweight in the field of dispensing technology. Gérard is perfectly qualified to help Quadpack reach the next stage of its growth cycle. I am thrilled to have him on board.”

Gérard is also Treasurer of the BeautyFull Club, a professional trade association for cosmetics and fragrance in France. The worldwide implementation of SAP enterprise software at all of our offices provides us with a common platform to conduct our business processes, with knock-on benefits for clients and partners alike.

Smoother operations are already evident as our international offices access the same information in the same format using the same tool. Management information can now be extracted on current status as well as opportunities, enabling more focused strategic business decisions.

Chelo Fernandez, project leader of the SAP operation, emphasises the effect on team work. “Our employees can share knowledge, information and expertise more easily. We now enjoy greater transparency across the enterprise, which will enhance collaborative product development.”

From a client perspective, all Quadpack marketing messages are consistent, providing a uniform view of the enterprise. Our blue chip clients will notice a more streamlined service across their international offices, as our business processes fit in seamlessly with theirs, whatever country they are in.

Looking ahead, plans are in place to leverage Quadpack’s central information repository to create a portal for clients and partners. This will be designed to enable users to check the status of their account, as well as providing an additional feedback channel.

For the time being, however, Chelo comments: “SAP is the tool that will allow us to reach new heights in terms of customer service. Its guarantee of operational efficiency translates into a guarantee of quality to our clients.”

Quadpack France went live this month, completing the two year-long roll-out across the group.
http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/quadpack-streamlines-global-business-processes/22/02/2010 10:54:16http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/quadpack-streamlines-global-business-processes/Unblemished record in quality management
Unblemished record in quality management

We are pleased to report that our ISO quality management certification has been renewed, bringing us up to date with the new revisions of ISO 9001:2008.

“This is a proud achievement, and one which validates company standards for quality, efficiency and transparency,” says Tim Eaves, Quadpack CEO. “Many of our major clients operate the same quality management system and our renewed certification, along with our implementation of SAP, helps keep our business cultures in sync.”

ISO 9001:2008 specifies requirements for a quality management system through adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements. The system includes processes for continual improvement and helps Quadpack maintain operational efficiency.

Quadpack first achieved ISO 9001 certification in 2007 in Spain. The revision and renewals process proceeded smoothly and without incident.

The company is now planning to bring the rest of the Group in line with ISO standards. The roll-out of SAP software across the enterprise is the first step towards that goal, ensuring that the same working practices are in force at all international subsidiaries.
http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/unblemished-record-in-quality-management/22/02/2010 10:53:26http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/unblemished-record-in-quality-management/Quadpack Group sales figures defy crisis
Quadpack Group sales figures defy crisis

Quadpack starts the new year with renewed energy, having left 2009 on a high note. Year-end figures show sales up 27 per cent last year, in spite of the global economic downturn. Our French and Australian operations have been most successful, doubling sales compared to 2008. Quadpack Spain and Italy have also done particularly well. The group as a whole enjoyed a healthy turnover of around €19m.

Group CEO Tim Eaves believes this growth is thanks to the group’s diversification into new markets. “Our traditional market is at the prestige end, developing luxury bespoke packaging for high-profile cosmetics companies. Now, however, three of our major clients are supermarket chains with in-house ranges for body care, skin treatment and cosmetics.”

Besides bespoke primary packaging, Quadpack introduced mass market and ‘masstige’ products last year, including secondary packaging. We now also offer a range of attractive, off-the-shelf collections ideal for house brand product ranges. These new product offerings have helped boost sales and win clients in new sectors, including a number of well-known retailers.

“We are delighted to welcome these major players as our clients,” says Tim. “Of course we remain thankful for the loyalty of our traditional customer base who continue to trust us with their packaging needs. We will keep working hard to ensure that the quality of our products and services surpasses itself year after year.”
http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/quadpack-group-sales-figures-defy-crisis/29/01/2010 02:06:44http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/quadpack-group-sales-figures-defy-crisis/Video conferencing speeds time-to-market
Video conferencing speeds time-to-market

State-of-the-art video conferencing equipment has been installed across Quadpack offices worldwide. With 12 offices in 10 countries, the new facility will enhance inter-office collaboration, as well as open up a whole new channel of communications with clients. What’s more, it will have a significant impact on product development.

Quadpack works closely with Asian manufacturers like Yonwoo to bring high-quality packaging solutions to Western companies at competitive prices and with a fast turnaround. The €50,000 equipment provides our project management personnel with instant visuals of a product in high definition during all stages of development and manufacture. This enables uninterrupted quality control in real time and shortens turnaround times as physical presence is no longer required at every stage. Less postage and travel also reduces our and our clients’ carbon footprint.

Clients, too, now have the opportunity to visit any Quadpack office where they can use the conferencing equipment to view their product remotely as it progresses, for instant comment and approval, cutting time-to-market even further.

Fostering a team spirit already prevalent, Quadpack staff in Spain, France, UK, Germany, Italy and Asia can now work together face to face, while those clients who have video conferencing facilities in place are also encouraged to take advantage. Communicating with Quadpack via this high-tech equipment enables all parties to benefit from the time and cost savings it brings, while accelerating development and boosting our collective competitive edge.
http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/video-conferencing-speeds-time-to-market/29/01/2010 02:05:57http://www.quadpack.net/turkey-en/our-company/news/company-news/video-conferencing-speeds-time-to-market/Body and...spirit: a new venture into bags and accessories
Body and... spirit: a new venture into bags and accessories

Cosmetics companies looking for that special GWP (gift with purchase) to boost sales or for a new product launch can now look to Quadpack. Spirit is a newly-acquired venture headed up by former Quadpack partner Jeremy Garrard.

Spirit offers a variety of stitch-and-sew bags (cosmetic, brush, clutch, tote, travellers, wash bags, etc) and clothing (dressing gowns, slippers, etc), as well as beauty and spa accessories (muslins, brushes, manicure sets, mirrors, etc).

“Spirit is a natural progression from my packaging development work at Quadpack,” says Jeremy. “Body care, skin treatment and cosmetics ranges often come accompanied by bags and accessories. They are attractive little luxuries that can help encourage sales. Stylish cosmetic bags filled with miniatures, for example, are a tempting, affordable introduction to a new product range.”

Spirit products are ideal for product launches, sales campaigns, product repositioning exercises and special events such as Christmas or Mother’s Day.
